Living the crazy life that God has given me!

Making the tough decision

I have been reading a lot lately both the bible as well as other books.  But as I was reading there was one story that I thought was very amazing.  In fact I was able to watch it be played out in a creative way in the TV show “Kings”.  The show “Kings” was written to in a new and modern way paralell the story of King David.  In fact my family and I really had a great time seeing how they would modernize the story of course there were things that we weren’t sure about but it made a great show.  But it did a great job of showing how David struggled to follow King Saul and still honor who he as a Godly man.

Just like in the following verses:

1 Samuel 24:3-8 (NLT)
At the place where the road passes some sheepfolds, Saul went into a cave to relieve himself. But as it happened, David and his men were hiding in that very cave!
[4] “Now’s your opportunity!” David’s men whispered to him. “Today is the day the Lord was talking about when he said, ‘I will certainly put Saul into your power, to do with as you wish.’ ” Then David crept forward and cut off a piece of Saul’s robe.
[5] But then David’s conscience began bothering him because he had cut Saul’s robe. [6] “The Lord knows I shouldn’t have done it,” he said to his men. “It is a serious thing to attack the Lord’s anointed one, for the Lord himself has chosen him.” [7] So David sharply rebuked his men and did not let them kill Saul.
After Saul had left the cave and gone on his way, [8] David came out and shouted after him, “My lord the king!” And when Saul looked around, David bowed low before him.1 Samuel 24:3-8 (NLT)  At the place where the road passes some sheepfolds, Saul went into a cave to relieve himself. First of all you have to love how the bible is very real.  Saul went into the cave to take a (you know) and while he was exposed (physically and figuratively) David’s men encouraged him to kill Saul.  But in that moment David had to make a decision.  He could easily kill Saul and become king or he could take the long road to follow Gods planning.  David chose to follow God’s plan for his life even though he knew that it would be difficult and could cost him greatly.
What decision do you need to think about that would be easy to make?  What that do in the long run?  I encourage you to take the time this week to pray and decide what are some decisions that you can make this week that will honor God in the long haul.
