Do you need encouragement?
Ever have one of those days where you just wish some one would acknowledge that you are doing a good job at whatever it is your doing that day? I mean maybe if you are a stay at home mom, that your husband or kids would just tell you that you are doing awesome and that they love their home. Wouldn’t that be nice? I mean how about husbands that work away from home and are gone for a couple of days, that when you get home you hear from your wife and kids that they missed you and want to be with you. Instead, you get the list of broken things in the home and dad you promised to take me to the store. Don’t you want to be encouraged? How about for those high school and middle school students that are taking on the world in school. That when you get home you hear that you were missed and that is there anything that your parents could do for you while you do the 12 million hours of home work. But instead you hear about the chores that aren’t done or about how you missed one thing on the project and it wasn’t the grade that your parents had hoped for in that class. Don’t you want more encouragement?
I recently was sitting and working away and was kind of having one of those days, where I just wanted to hear I was doing a good job. That things were going well and that even though my emotions were getting the better of me, that God is the one in charge I am not, and today was better than I thought. When I looked up at the huge wipe board in my office and saw this:
There she left me a little note just telling me she loved me. What a great reminder and an encouragement to me. It made the rest of my day just hinking about how my “favorite youngest daughter” loved me. Maybe that is what you need to hear too? Maybe you need to know that from not just the people around you but from God himself. You see God being the great dad that He is even knew that was important. Look at what he said to His son:
Matthew 3:17 (NLT) “And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved son, who brings me great joy.”
Guess what you are His kid and you too bring Him joy. So even if you can’t see it on the wipe board in your office know that God loves you and He wants you to lean into Him and hear I Love you, your doing a good job.
Hope that you are encouraged! Maybe this is something you need to share with someone else? Go encourage someone, maybe on their wipe board.
The Beauty of a Daughter
There is one thing that I love to do and that is talk about the amazing kids that live in my house. I truly believe like every other dad in the world that my kids are the best and the brightest. Today my youngest Morgan is turning 14 and I could not be prouder to be her daddy. She is going to be a freshman next year in High school and I know that she is going to be amazing. She is a lady that can sing, play volleyball, and an amazing student. But most of all she is a woman that points others to who Jesus is in her life. I love being able to watch each of my kids grow and I love seeing how each one is their own person. Thank you Morgan for being my girl.
Leading The Hard Way
One of the things that I have always had to work at overcoming is that “I can’t finish”. I don’t know about you but there are those certain places in my life that have challenged me to the point where I just feel weak and beat up. I have had the privilege in my life to be involved in sports since I was six years old and I have experienced many times where I just wanted to quit. It was almost four years ago that I was able to run in the PF Chang’s Half Marathon. During that race at about mile eleven I just did not want to go on, my legs hurt, my chest hurt, my feet hurt, and all I wanted to do was stop. But I knew that at the finish line was my family and friends, I knew that at the end of the line I was going to be able to rest.
Hebrews 12:12-13 (NLT) So take a new grip with your tired hands and stand firm on your shaky legs. [13] Mark out a straight path for your feet. Then those who follow you, though they are weak and lame, will not stumble and fall but will become strong.
Movie Monday
Now I just love to share with you all some of the things that my kids do and here is another installment in the Ninja Police Movie work. That is the name of the movies that Tyler has been doing for awhile and I have to say and I am not partial or anything but they are pretty good. Check it out.
I hope you had an awesome Easter, praise God that we have a savior that gave His life for us.
Special St. Pat’s Day Video
Since many of you shared how much you enjoyed the first video that Tyler made. He has chosen to bring you some more for St. Pat’s Day. I hope that you enjoy his video as much he enjoyed making it for you. This is another creative opportunity for me to really be proud of my kids and the way that they use their abilities. This one is really fun! Enjoy.
Creative Video Fun!
So this last week my son and daughter decided to make a funny video. I love being a dad and seeing my kids do some fun and creative things. You would have never thought that with a camera, a teddy bear, and two kids that you would get something like this. Check out the “Valentines Day Horror” starring Tyler and Morgan Bloyer.
Singing in the Shower!
First day of summer break and I catch my youngest daughter Morgan singing in the shower. It is awesome to hear her sing but it was hilarious to get caught while making the video.
Pretty awesome that she loves to sing worship songs in the shower. She even extends grace to her crazy dad for making a video of her singing. I love my kids.
Killing the Spider
So this is what the family does on Saturday nights when there is nothing going on. We are always looking to have fun:
Please don’t laugh when my wife says “I act like a girl!” It really hurt.
We as the Bloyer family would like to thank all of those that have made the choice to serve our country and gave their life for our freedom.
Morgan is 12 today!

Today 12 years ago at about 11:00 AM in the morning we were blessed to have Morgan Isabella Bloyer. Michelle and I on that day were so excited to see what we were going to have. We had tried to find out but she was just to tough to get a good picture of so that we could to tell. It was amazing Michelle was in labor all night long and when I woke the next morning she looked at me with this intense face and said we need to get to the hospital now. ( that was the mild G version) So I was able to be one of those husbands that drove like a made man to the hospital in Denver. I even made a right hand turn from the left hand turn lane across three lanes of traffic to get to the hospital. I think Michelle did make the comment that she wanted to arrive alive.
I want everyone to know that as a father I have been blessed with each of the kids and I have to always remember that they are just on loan to their mother and I from God. But Morgan brings a smile to my face she knows how to snuggle with her daddy. She brings joy to our hearts every time she begins to sing in the back of the car she has such a gift. Her heart for the underdog is incredible and she is always looking to help in some way. For the record she pretty much has her brother wrapped around her finger. Thank you Lord for allowing us to enjoy the time that we have had with her so far we look to the future with much anticipation and joy.
George I love you!
Mother’s Day
I love hanging out with my family. They know how to have fun no matter what is going on. I had just finished barbecuing dinner for mother’s day, we ate, the dishes were clean. So I went to the back of the house to do a little reading. When I came out this is what I found going on in the living room. I want you all to know that yes I like sports and yes I like competition, but there is one person in the house that is way more competitive them me.
I am telling you don’t mess with my bride she will “Dominate”, notice she said, “Going for the kill”. I was scared for the kids. What fun, what a great woman, and I am so blessed to have this woman be the mother of our children. I love you Michelle.
What fun things do you do as a family in the house?
Easter @ Church with the Bloyers
Just wanted to share some of the fun that we have together at church. Yes that is right we had fun at church during the Easter services. Check out this video that my son put together.
Hope that you had this much fun on Easter at church. I love being a dad and I love being with my kids. More serious stuff to come!
Sleep Walking!
Ok, I have to talk about this because it is so freaking hilarious. Last night as I was working on the computer and watching a movie about 1:00AM I was surprised to have one of my kids get up. This does not happen to often and when it does it usually means someone is sick or bad dreams. But this one was different, the child that was up and walking around decided to take a shower. It was one in the freaking morning who takes a shower? So being the person I am I went and woke-up my wife and asked if this was normal behavior for a girl? You now know that it was not Tyler, edged out by the female comment. So Michelle got up and went in to ask the daughter what was going on. Much to Michelle’s surprise this person was getting ready to go to school. This is where it gets good. This girl then asked “Why was she asking?” Michelle informed her it was one in the morning. While still in the shower the person went dead silent, then began to laugh. ”I thought that it was time to get up I was dreaming that I was getting ready to go to school.” With that Michelle started laughing of course coming straight out to me with the funny information. Obviously Michelle went back to bed but I waited to comfort, make fun of this person. Now this is where I hope you figure out which one of the girls this was, she came out and told me she was going to blow dry her hair at one in the morning so she could look good for school. (Morgan is not totally there yet, I say yet.) Danielle was so hilarious that I could not stop laughing, in fact at 2:00AM when I went to bed laying there I started to laugh again. You know that you are in a routine of getting ready for school when you get up and take a shower because you are dreaming about going to school.
I love my daughter she is truly a joy, and if I was in the South I would probably say to her, “Bless your little heart.”
It’s all about Perspective!
I really enjoy the way that as I walk through life that I am always challenged with a new perspective. Especially when it comes to leadership and becoming a a leader. This week I am finishing up a book called “Unleashing Courageous Faith” by Paul Coughlin. I am one of those people that really enjoys reading books especially ones on leadership and how I can become a better leader as a husband, father, and man. So in this book I read the following statement about leadership:
“When we have vision without wonder, it’s almost always mechanical, cold, and too “efficient” to include the work of God’s spirit” Unleashing Courageous Faith, page 217
This is one of those statements that just jump off the page for me. Because I really believe that there are times in my life that I just work on the vision and forget about the wonder. I believe that as I have read through the Psalms that is part of what is so awesome about David, that he truly lived with a perspective of wonder.
Psalm 22:22 (NLT) Then I will declare the wonder of your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among all your people.

Why is it that we can so easily take the wonder out of leadership? I think because it then becomes more about us then it does God. I am blessed to have children that are constantly opening my eyes to the amazing wonder of God. When I listen to Danielle talk about the Quiet times that she has and how God is speaking to her, that through Morgan and her singing I experience that praise among the people, and through the eye of my son who see things through his camera that I don’t see. I pray that this week we all will take the time to see the wonder of God, that this wonder will effect how we lead and who we lead.
Where have you seen the wonder of an almighty God in your life?
Anchored Winter Retreat
I just wanted to thank all of the students that were at the Anchored Retreat in Lake Tahoe. I really had a great time with you all and I know that some day we will all recover from the smell where the boys slept. I want to make sure that I let Nate, Isaac, and Max no how much I appreciate the ministry that they are doing at their churches. God is really using you guys and I know that nothing but incredible things are still to come. This weekend you all shared with me some of the hurts and happenings that are going on in your life and I know that God is still at work in each of your situations and that He is going to continue to be that ROCK in your life.
I also want to thank you for the way that you excepted and treated my daughter Morgan she had a great time. I know that I was very blessed to have her with me and we got to really hang out as well. She is awesome! (Not that I am partial) I pray that each of you had as much fun this weekend as I did. Eduardo the music on your IPOD is between you and me, no more jokes. (Hannah are you serious!) For those students that tried to push me down the hill in the snow, just remember I never went down. So next time bring your A game. To my future wrestlers remember the moves that I showed you are not to be used on any brother or sister.
Make sure you let me know how God spoke to you this last weekend.
Life’s Chain of Events
I don’t know why but today I have really been taking a mental inventory of the men and women that God has used to be influential in my life. These are people that through out my life that God has used to add another link in the chain of events that have made me who I am today. Some of them may or may not even know how God has used them but to me I really see them as the hands and feet of the Lord. They have either helped me along, pushed me, kicked me in the butt, or have been an ear to vent too. So for me I wanted to be able to take the time to name some of them, some are gone, some are living, some are near and some are far. All I know is that I thank God for each one of them and the amazing way that they have been a part of my life in word or in deed. So this is my list of names that have been used by God in my life:
Phil Bloyer, Nancy Bloyer, Pastor Fredrichs, Skinny Knapp, Harry Munson, Peter Fredrich, Jim Brooks, Meerle Steele, Mike Hiller, Jim Evans, Greg Meeker, Charles and Margie Kellim, James and Rachel Preston, The Boys at Union Hill Baptist Church, Nathan Lawson, The Staff at Riverside Hospital, Thelma Murray, Rick Richardson, Randy Sanders, Jerry and Becky Coon, Todd and Joe Stevenson, Matt Coon, Ted and Jody Herzog, Shawn and Candice Kelly, Josh Reinke, Chris Hallock, Phil Newby, The Elders at Grace Bible Church – Miles City, Bill Robbins, Ty Blaus, Marcus Boykins, Matt McMann, Dan and Joy Bethel, Nathan Maples, Joe Hunsaker, Kevin Carlson, Jason Olcott, Pastor Jay of I.C.M.C., Warren C. Bloyer (Your words from the past), Mike Yaconelli, Mark Batterson, Pete Wilson, Ric Small, Ken Jensen, Brian Logue, Kurt Baughn, Sammy Verbis, My awesome kids – Danielle Bloyer, Tyler Bloyer, Morgan Bloyer, With out a doubt my brothers and sister, I have to close with my wife Michelle L. Bloyer. (She is the best thing that the Lord has loaned to me)
Lord may I continue to remember the names of people that you have used to build into me ,I know that there are names that should be on here that either I have forgotten or have yet to be brought to this place.
Maybe this is something that you need to do is take an inventory of the men and women that have made a difference in your life. Maybe you need to contact them and let them know the difference that they have made. Maybe you need to realize that you are someone that God is going to use in the lives of those around you. Whose list will you show up on? Will you show up on anyone’s list? Take the time to thank the Lord for those that He has used to lead you closer to Him.
Who is on you list – make a short one today.
Fun Video!
I just wanted to share with you all something that my son Tyler did with my wife and daughter Morgan one night while they went shopping. He was suppose to go along and be a help to his mother but he did so much more. When he came home he was so excited that we sat down and edited the video right then and there on my MAC. Here is what the next Steven Spielberg came up with:
I will never look at Cake mix the same again. Please make sure that you thank the workers at Walmart for not kicking my kids butt while he ran around with his camera. There were no cake mixes hurt in the shooting of this video. Who knows maybe some day we all will be sitting down in a theatre watching this kids work. I know that would be a great place for him to be a witness to the world about who Christ is. I just wish that more people would see that you don’t have to go to a foreign land or work in a church to be a missionary. Each and every day Jesus gives us opportunities to be his ambassadors to the world right in our own front yard.
He shall be my Theme . . . .

Warren C. Bloyer - Iowa Preacher
The other night in my office after we had been at church for the Middle school small groups Morgan and I were talking. While I was finishing up paper work for the night she continued to talk and share about the nights events with the girls and how the leaders she had were awesome. I was listening half -heartedly. Then all of a sudden it got quiet and I could hear her turning some pages in one of the many books that I have on my shelves. I continued to work not thinking that she found some books that I have for students, or a book about games, even one of the comic books that I kept for younger kids to read while in my office. Then came the questions; who is this man again? What are these books? Why is this one so old? Can I keep looking through this one?
I had to turn and look to see what she was talking about. There in her little hands the old frail preaching bible of my grandfather. My grandfather was a hell, fire, and brimstone preacher back in the 1950’s in Iowa. We heard many stories about him and what he did and who he was, the reason we just heard stories is because he died when my dad was only 10 years old. One of the first people in the United States that had identifiable Colon cancer he died at age 35. So at one time my mom from my grandmother gave me some of his study guides, his preaching bible, a picture, and his sermon material folder. The sermon bible is what Morgan had in her hands. It had been a long time since I had looked at it, read it, and listened to what had been written in it’s pages. But one of the first things that I read in his note pages is what he had to say about being a preacher.
When I speak = He shall be my theme.
While I speak = His glory shall be my Goal
When I have spoken = His smile shall be my sufficient reward.
As I sat there and read these words I was challenged by the words of my grandfather. I thought were these things that he wrote so that he could remain grounded while speaking? Was this something that he heard someone else say? It made me really think, Morgan and I then cleaned up our stuff then went home. While on the way home we talked about his time, the little stories that I knew, and I shared with all I knew of him. When we were home she asked for me to make a copy of his picture so she could have it in her room. Then as I was tucking her into bed she said, “No one talks like great grandpa anymore.” It again made me think some more. Why don’t we talk like he did anymore? Is it because we have lost touch with God? Is it because we don’t take the time to really digest the words of scripture? Have we allowed technology to rob us of the intimacy of the scriptures? I don’t know? All I know is that I want to take steps to be like my grandfather. May we take the time to be more in tune with God and who He is, when I speak at anytime may HE be my theme.
