Elevation Christian Church
We are excited to say that we have started a church in the Aurora, Colorado. It is our hope and prayer to reach the almost 93% of people that do not attend church in that area through this church start. We pray that you would be a part of this through prayer, financial support, and becoming involved by being a part of Elevation Christian Church.
Our Vision: “Engage jacked up people so that they can become followers of Jesus.”
Our Mission: “We exist to engage, encourage, empower, and expose people to the radical grace of Jesus.”
Our Process:
Engage people in experiences that lead to next steps.
Matthew 9:10 (NLT) That night Matthew invited Jesus and his disciples to be his dinner guests, along with his fellow tax collectors and many other notorious sinners.
Encourage people through the mess of community.
Romans 1:12 (NLT) I’m eager to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. In this way, each of us will be a blessing to the other.
Empower people to serve as a team with focuse.
Hebrews 13:20 (NLT) “And now, may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, all that is pleasing to him. Jesus is the great Shepherd of the sheep by an everlasting covenant, signed with his blood. To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Expose people to Jesus everday.
Ephes. 4:12-13 (NLT) “Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, [13] until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.”

You stated that James Holmes, the batman killer, attended your church. I know you probably mean well, but I think it might be a bad idea to teach the youth about Christ through constant analogies to fighting, being a psycho, wrestling, etc. Young males can be especially impressionable and are surging with testosterone, so they may misinterpret your analogies. Jesus generally spoke about treating people with kindness and acting in a peaceful manner rather than about fighting and battle. Many young men will not distinguish between spiritual battle and actual battle, at least at the subconscious level. Worry less about number of conversions and more about the quality of the message, which I think is undermined by encouraging people to get “jacked up” or ready for “battle” against “enemies.” How about focusing on getting people “motivated” to “help” those who are “in need.” That might get less converts, but might produce better fruit.

I may have been a little harsh in my prior message. It’s not your fault James Holmes did this, and I now read that you are not certain he was in your church but just think he attended. Once again, I’m sorry that I came off a bit harsh in my prior posting. Only James Holmes is to blame. I still stand by my statement though that teaching about Christ using analogies to battle or aggression might not be the best approach for young males, however. I appreciate any help you will give to the grieving families. Just preach kindness. I repent for my own unkindness towards you.

Look what your message has done. You should get real jobs and inspire people by example to live decent lives instead of attacking normal people. If there was a hell you’d be in there with one of the most famous of last year’s christians: Hitler.

Not sure what you mean by this comment. But I am praying that we will continue to share the grace and mercy of Jesus to all that come.
